Democrats seem to take comfort in thinking of themselves as infants who will be cared for by their parent, the government. This is why they are so willing to turn their personal health care decisions over to their "father," the government. It also explains why they they suffered from BDS: they couldn't stand to see Pres. Bush as their father.

In a democracy, by contrast, we the people are the breadwinners and we the people select our president: we delegate power to him. He works for us, not us for him.

You nailed it. The power to govern rests in the hands of the people, or at least that is what our Constitution mandates.
Under the US Constitution, We The People are The God Given Authority, and we delegate that authority to our elected representatives for the purpose of the representation of us. End of story.
